Random Factoids
Calvin: Six teams have won titles after losing the final the prior season. Washington-St. Louis (2007) was the last to do it.
Hope: Seven teams have won championships on their home floors. The last was Wisconsin-Whitewater (2002).
Cal Lutheran: Nine West Region teams have won titles. La Verne (2001) was the last West Region national champion.
Emory: A few of the other coaches are taking their third teams to the national quarterfinals this year. Emory head coach Jenny McDowell (1-1 in finals) is taking her seventh team in the past 11 years.
Eastern: Has never beaten (0-3) next opponent Emory. All three matches were within the last four years.
Wisconsin-Stevens Point: Three teams have won national championships in their first national quarterfinal appearances — but they were the first three D-III title winners, in 1981-83.
Clarkson/UMass Boston: Only one New York Region team and one New England Region team has even made the title match. NYU lost in the 2003 final; MIT was runner-up in 1984.
