Calvin’s Kamp named 2017 AVCA Player of the Year

Calvin junior outside Anna Kamp was selected as the 2017 AVCA Division III Women’s Volleyball Player of the Year. Anna is the fourth Kamp sister to win the award, joining Rebecca in 2011, Lizzie in 2012 and Maggie in 2014.

Nancy Somera from Johnson & Wales (R.I.) was tabbed the AVCA’s Division III Coach of the Year. Somera has led the unbeaten Wildcats (35-0) to the national quarterfinals for the first time.

  1. Kamp is a great player but is this surprising considering Calvin’s schedule? Millikin and Illinois Wesleyan were nice outings but not that amazing to earn POY with a schedule that lacked starpower.

  2. Anon @ 9:40 am,
I’m not surprised. Calvin’s 11 discretionary matches were pretty good ones.

Kamp had maybe two iffy matches all year.
