  1. a lot of uninspiring 3-0 matches so far.

  2. Anon @ 9:25 pm,
One of the 3-0 matches included a national anthem protest.
Quarterfinal sweeps are rather routine occurrences though. Top-10 teams sweeping semifinals is not too shocking either.

  3. And one absolutely inspiring 3-2 match between two teams that should never have been scheduled to play each other in the Regional Quarterfinals. Guaranteeing that one of the top 15 teams in the country goes home in the first round is inexcusable.

  4. Mike,
If Calvin beats Carthage, the Knights could be the No. 8 seed in Grand Rapids.

This upstart Calvin College program is quite a Cinderella story. It should lead SportsCenter if the Knights did the improbable and won it all.

  5. In all seriousness, the re-ranking of the Elite 8 promises to be another head scratcher based on RAC results this year.

  6. Ricky,

Fun fact: Carthage and Calvin have met in the Regional Finals in 2014, 2015 and now again in 2017. Should be a fun match.

  7. Anon @ 9:06 am,
And for anyone who may not remember, Carthage and Calvin split those two regional finals.

  8. Yes, Calvin upset Carthage at home in 2014, and Carthage upset Calvin in 2015 when Calvin was hosting the national championship
