  1. Can anyone explain how North Central out of the CCIW has only played 18 matches with a 19th match on Tuesday to end the regular season? I know they cancelled two matches but even with those two, that would only bring them to 21 matches on the season. For all you volley geeks out there, is there a minimum number of matches a team must play? Probably not but when you have teams playing 30+ matches on the season, 21 seems awfully low.

  2. Anon @ 6:18 a.m.,
The top-ranked team in the country is currently 20-0, so it happens by design sometimes.
To be considered eligible for the NCAA Championship, the contest minimum for D III volleyball is 17.

  3. Their head coach is also the coach of the men’s team. It looks like he undersceduled them so he could also coach the men’s team in their fall season. For example, this weekend the women aren’t playing, but the men’s team has a scrimmage in Chicago. Seems like he doesn’t really prioritize his women’s program.

  4. Speaking of DOCs (Date of competitions) Ricky have you heard anything about that ridiculous D3 10% across the board reduction in DOCs that was proposed a few years back. Last I heard it was sculking around in some committee looking for an angle after a survey of sane people showed no support. Are the penny pinching presidents still trying to advance it?

  5. NED3VballFan,
I’m not sure where the proposal is in the NCAA pipeline, but I know it has not yet been approved. The President’s Council backed off years ago after receiving harsh criticism, but the proposal is still around.

Unsure about volleyball, but there is still a push to reduce baseball maximum from 40 to 36 games.
