  1. I find it out that Northwestern is #1 after losing to Oshkosh and Carthage last week, both who are relatively “lower ranked” Midwest region teams. I realize Gustavus also had some tough losses last week, but is there no one else deserving of the top ranking in the Central region?

  2. Anon @ 2:52 p.m.,
I am on a bus with bus-like Wi-Fi at the moment. I will look into it further much later tonight. Off the top of my head, only UST and WUSTL are additional candidates for the top spot. Without looking and based on memory alone, UST’s losses to UWEC, UWSP and Gustavus don’t help. WUSTL is hindered by a loss to Saint Mary’s.

If anything, WUSTL may be ranked a bit too low this week. Again, I’m not positive about that this second.

  3. With some time to pore over criteria, I think Washington-St. Louis and Augsburg are a bit underappreciated in the Central. Augsburg has been up and down, but those two wins over St. Ben’s and one over Northwestern stick out.

Whitewater should have been a bit higher in the Midwest. UWW could prove it with a win over Concordia Wisconsin this weekend. The WIAC order of things should work itself out by the next rankings (hello there, La Crosse). However, the NACC programs got a lot of credit in the Week 2 rankings. Deservedly? I’m not so sure. Maybe?

The Central and Midwest were closer to reality this week. Both regions are nearly down to differences in opinion. Thank you for that.
