2017 AVCA Week 5 poll: Johnson & Wales ranked for first time

The top 11 teams remain the same — if in a slightly different order — in the AVCA Week 5 poll.

Unbeaten Wittenberg and Colorado College are still first and second, respectively, while Trinity (Texas) moved up one spot to third, Emory fell one spot to fourth and Southwestern held steady at No. 5.

Twentieth-ranked Johnson & Wales (R.I.) is among the top 25 teams for the first time.

Central and Midwest teams in the Week 5 top 25: No. 7 Northwestern; No. 9 Wisconsin-Whitewater; No. 11 Gustavus Adolphus; No. 13 Illinois Wesleyan; No. 15 Millikin; No. 16 Chicago; No. 17 St. Thomas; No. 21 Washington-St. Louis.

Central and Midwest region teams receiving votes this week: Wisconsin-Stevens Point; Cornell; Bethel; Dubuque; Aurora; Wisconsin-La Crosse; Wisconsin-Oshkosh; Wartburg.

My Week 5 top 10 had Johns Hopkins, Illinois Wesleyan and Chicago instead of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, Wisconsin-Whitewater and Carnegie Mellon.
