  3. CCIW fan here with some thoughts.

Big props to Wheaton volleyball for winning 6 straight matches to end the regular season, 4 of which were in 5 sets including tonight’s match against Carthage which added to their impropable run of upsets against tough teams. I’m not sure they are capable of winning the cciw tournament but there isn’t a hotter team in the conference and I am rooting for them to win it all to get into the ncaa tournament.

The DUD of the Year award goes to Elmhurst for losing tonight to Illinois Wesleyan in a match that if they won, would have secure them hosting the cciw tournament, instead they get swept and must now face the hottest team in the conference in Wheaton in the semifinals of the tournament. For such an important match, they completely fail to show up which pretty much sums up their rollercoaster season.

Don’t ever play badly for Leanne Ulmer of Carthage. If you are in the starting line-up, early screw-ups will have you pulled from the match and you will NOT see the floor again for the rest of the night. Yikes!

Tyler Brown will go down as one of the best players in CCIW history. Only a sophomore, this Illinois Wesleyan outside hitter singlehandedly destroyed Elmhurst tonight. Already with 885 kills in her young career, last year’s conference freshman of the year will be a favorite to win conference player of the year along with Millikin’s Erin Syversen.

  4. CCIW follow-up.

in my last comment about Tyler Brown being a favorite to win conference player of the year award, I meant that for next year.

Big props to North Park for having their best conference record since 2004 when they went 2-5 in the conference. With their win tonight against North Central, they finish 2-6 in the conference.

  5. Anon @ 11:18,
I wouldn’t have a problem with Brown being named 2016 CCIW POTY. Certainly one of the few possibilities, and I’m not sure anyone else is clearly more deserving. I thought EC’s setter was going to be POTY entering both the year and tonight. The options probably opened up tonight.

  6. ricky, while I’m not a big fan of Hannah nimrick of elmhurst, lord knows i’m probably her biggest critic, I would be shocked if she wasn’t named player of the year in the cciw.
