2015 AVCA final poll released

National champion Cal Lutheran is the unanimous top team in the final AVCA poll of the season.

The Regals are followed by runner-up Wittenberg, semifinalist Carthage, Washington-St. Louis and Juniata in the top five.

Other Central and Midwest teams in the final top 25: No. 11 Bethel; No. 16 UW-Stevens Point; No. 17 UW-Whitewater; No. 21 Elmhurst; No. 22 Illinois Wesleyan; No. 24 Northwestern.

Central and Midwest teams receiving votes in the final poll: UW-Oshkosh; UW-Eau Claire; Gustavus Adolphus; Chicago; Wartburg; Greenville.

  1. Finally getting around to this…

    28 voters in the final poll. The weekly average was 47, with a high of 54 and a low of 28. Come on coaches, either vote or give up your spot to someone who will.

    Now for some editorializing. DI & DIII polls don’t mean much to the NCAA selection committees. DI #1 team UW gets 5th overall seed and shipped across the land. And the DIII #1 team, Wash U gets shipped out west. Neither team was up to the task set for them. Would Wash U have beaten Cal Lutheran in the finals if they had met. Maybe, maybe not.

    Do the committees have something against schools with Washington & University in their names?

    And apparently the committees know more than the coaches, since neither of these teams made the championship tournament.
