  1. Still trying to guess the minds of the West RAC. Their eight ranked teams of last week should still be the eight this week but going through the 6 criteria I find them moving around a bit. Interested to see if the West RAC agrees or will they take some liberties.

At this point in the year, losses hurt (duh, right?) and losses to ranked teams really hurt. So, Cal Lu’s loss to CMS should see them drop. CC win over SU also has an impact. I have:

    1. Colorado College
    2. UTD!!!
    3. Southwestern
    4. Cal Lu
    5. CMS
    6. La Verne
    7. ETBU
    8. Whitworth

UTD would jump from 6 to 2 if my math is right and Cal Lu drops from 2 to 4. (Cal Lu might drop another spot as they are tied with CMS.)

UTD is at or near the top in the west in win %, last 25% win % and ranked opponent win %. That’s 3 criterion out of the 6 that they own over most of the other teams. They almost beat out CC but common opponent works in CC’s favor (barely).

Anyway, not the order I would put them in based on the “eye test” but how I think the West RAC must put them in (but probably won’t).

  2. Fact are facts. It would be interesting if the RACs would be able to eliminate the program name and just see numbers until the end. Not sure if it’s preferable, but I wonder whether rankings would change in that scenario.
UTD, huh? I’m all for it. Then again I also wonder whether results in the last 25% gets factored in this early.

  3. Even without Last 25%, UTD holds the advantage over SU and Cal Lu. That’s even with SU beating UTD head-to-head.

Really, UTD is the classic example of how to beat the system. Poor SOS but beat pretty much everyone you play. As long as they don’t drop a couple of games they are golden. Having said that, they are the class of the ASC right now, playing well, are a good team and look to be working in their starting OH that was injured earlier in the year.
