Taking a (fairly informed) stab at the first regional rankings of 2015

This is how I would vote in the upcoming regional rankings. We’ll see what the committees say on Thursday.
UPDATE: Last I heard, the proposal to rank at least eight teams per region was tabled. If the RACs are ranking eight, I have added teams.

Central Region
1. Washington-St. Louis 25-2
2. Wartburg 22-3
3. Northwestern 20-8
4. Saint Benedict 14-7
5. Gustavus Adolphus 21-2
6. Augsburg 15-6
[7.] Saint Mary’s (Minn.) 17-7
[8.] Bethel 17-8

Midwest Region
1. UW-Whitewater 21-3
2. Carthage 22-6
3. UW-Oshkosh 20-5
4. UW-Stevens Point 20-7
5. Elmhurst 20-8
6. Illinois Wesleyan 18-6
7. Chicago 15-8
[8.] UW-Eau Claire 20-7

I have rough ideas of what the rankings in other regions should be, but I’ll hold off on those.

Agree with my rankings? Disagree? Have your own Central and/or Midwest rankings that you’d like to share? Have rankings for other regions? Bueller? Bueller?

  1. Bueller? There’s a group of us collecting money to buy Ferris a new kidney. They run about 50g’s.

I was thinking they went to an eight team ranking but knowing you couldn’t be wrong, I double-checked and saw that it didn’t pass. So, six teams ranked in the West are…

    West Region
    1. Cal Lu 20-3 – Tough schedule with wins against top class teams.

    2. Colorado College 25-2 – Also played a strong schedule with a number of quality wins.

    3. Southwestern 23-2 – Average schedule while mainly staying in the west region. Quality wins against UTD and CMS put them here.

    4. Claremont Mudd-Scripps 18-5 – Strong schedule but only big win outside of their conference is Emory (which is a HUGE one).

    5. La Verne 16-4 – Another team that primarily stayed in the west region. Splits with Cal Lu and CMS put them here.

    6. UTD 20-2 – Not a strong schedule but I think this team is every bit as good as the previous 3 teams.

Outside looking in is ETBU (20-3). They have wins against SU and CC but losses against common opponents that were beat by those teams negate that advantage. I believe in the head-to-head win but the NCAA has shown that it’s just one equal factor out of the six.

The West RAC could swap UTD and La Verne or even put ETBU at 6 and remove La Verne all together but the above is my best bet.

  2. Everybody gets to rank at least 8 this year. It will be interesting. All of the top teams have beaten each other.

  3. Is that confirmed? The last I saw, that proposal was tabled. But that was in April 2014.

  4. Just to see how close I get in case they do rank 8 for the West.

    ETBU is #7.

Ugh…could be anyone at #8 but I’ll do Whitworth just because it will be easier to include the leader in the NW Conference than someone from another conference.
