  1. Ricky, was at N. Central tourney. I don’t know how Carthage has 4 losses. Very strong team.

  2. I have yet to see Carthage in person this season, although I’ve seen the Lady Reds often online. Deep and dynamic as usual are what I’ve seen through a computer screen.

CC can be beaten when they don’t hit well. When their wheels come off, they don’t always go back on.

  3. I asked a couple of weeks ago about how the AVCA Coaches Poll arrives at it’s numbers. DIIIFan, I believe, suggested that the non-votes are added to the totals from those coaches who actually voted. Turns out that is correct.

Taking last week as an example:

42 (out of 63, though there are 64 listed in the ballots) coaches voted.
WUSTL received 12 first place votes, 23 second place votes with a their lowest being 5th place and total of 1008 points..
Juniata received 29 1st place votes, two second place and their lowest was an 11th and had a total of 1003 points.

After the adjustment of adding the un-voted 21 1st place votes to WUSTL, they ended up with 1533 points.
Juniata, meanwhile received the additional 21 2nd place votes, bring their total to 1507.

So, draw your own conclusions about the process.

  4. The process needs improvement if Juniata is ranked 11th on any ballot. And for the few voters who have CNU ahead of Juniata, please pay better attention.

  5. Thanks StatsGuy. I actually asked the question directly to the AVCA awhile back and got a well meaning but very cryptic response back. I like your analysis better!
