  2. You’re right about that Mike. Great tournament at Emory this weekend with no clear winner:

#1 Emory beats #9 Cal Lutheran but loses to #2 Calvin and #10 CMS
#2 Calvin beats #1 Emory but loses to #6 Wash and #9 Cal Lutheran
#6 Wash beats #2 Calvin and #10 CMS but loses to #9 Cal Lutheran
#9 Cal Lutheran beats #2 Calvin and #6 Wash but loses to #1 Emory
#10 CMS beats #1 Emory but loses to #6 Wash

I suspect Cal Lutheran (especially) and Wash (maybe) will move up with Emory and Calvin falling. Tough call though – many of the matches could have gone either way.

  3. Definitely a lot of movement this week, so I hope the voters put away their rubber stamps.

My top 10, which will be posted late tonight, had nine teams move at least two places and two teams drop out.

Most will probably disagree with my top team, but it’s a preference thing. I think it has to be either Juniata or WUSTL. I didn’t go with the unbeaten team.

  4. I was at the carthage tournament…Chicago was clearly the best team there…maren loe for Chicago is playing like a 1st team AA. wasn’t impressed with uw stevens point, no way they are a top 5 team, should be carthage and Illinois Wesleyan playing for cciw bragging rights and Elmhurst and Dominican should drop out of the top 25…Elmhurst has absolutely NO terminators, they are gonna have double digit losses on the season.

  5. While I haven’t seen all the top 10-15 teams after seeing a number of them at Emory what struck me is that there isn’t a powerhouse that’s a notch above everyone else (see D1 Penn St). There are at least 5 and probably closer to 10 really good teams that on any given day can beat the other really good teams.

I think we’ll see more movement over the next week or so and then things will settle down during conference play where not a lot of top teams play each other. It would be nice if come tournament time the NCAA really tried to get the best 8 teams to the final – it would be a heck of a finish. It would be a shame if we have another Wash/Emory or Wittenberg/Hope regional final. Of course that’s not the way that D3 works.
