2014 AVCA Week 8 poll: Carthage vaults to #14

Unanimous Hope and Cal Lutheran remained in the top two spots, but Emory’s loss last week created the first movement up top in weeks. Emory fell three spots to No. 6 in the AVCA Week 8 poll.

No. 3 Calvin, No. 4 Wittenberg and Washington-St. Louis round out the top five.

Carthage’s win over Elmhurst was rewarded with a six-point jump up the rankings to No. 14. Elmhurst dropped four places to No. 12.

Other Central and Midwest teams in this week’s top 25: No. 7 St. Thomas; No. 11 UW-Stevens Point; No. 15 Nebraska Wesleyan; No. 18 Millikin; No. 21 Saint Benedict; No. 23 UW-Whitewater; No. 25 Augsburg.

Central and Midwest team receiving votes in this week’s poll: UW Oshkosh; Chicago; Cornell; Coe; Wartburg.

Fingers are crossed that Thursday’s regional rankings get closer to reflecting the facts.
