Cornell’s O’Connor named AVCA National Player of the Week

Cornell senior outside Kathleen O’Connor was named the AVCA National Player of the Week today. Highlighted by her 21-3-33 hitting line and 10 digs in a sweep against conference rival St. Norbert, O’Connor recorded 52 kills and 29 digs while hitting .339 in three 3-0 wins during the week.

It’s been a season of firsts for the Rams. Last week Cornell (16-3) entered the top 25 for the first time in program history, and O’Connor is first Ram to be named AVCA National Player of the Week.

Update: Nebraska Wesleyan junior middle Alyssa Stanek was named Division III Independents Player of the Week. Stanek had 67 kills and 18 blocks to help lead the Prairie Wolves to a 3-2 record during the week.
