D III Women's Volleyball

A source for NCAA Division III women's volleyball info and opinion, with a focus on the Midwest and Central regions

Award-losing blog

Now that the winners have been announced, I just wanted to post a public thank you to the Midwest Region head coach who nominated this site for an AVCA Grant Burger Media Award.

I’m thankful that it has an audience at all, and the Media Award winners are fantastic. This blog is what it is. Cliche alert: it truly was an honor to be nominated. I mean that.

Thanks again,
Ricky Nelson

  1. This isn’t a comment about women’s volleyball but rather a question about Men’s D3 volleyball. Ever since the first NCAA championship was announced for men’s D3 there has been a lot of talk about 8-12 schools starting new mens D3 teams. My son is a high school junior and we are currently looking at schools. Does anyone know of a way to identify which schools may be bringing new men’s D3 teams next year or the year after? The NCAA customer service people didn’t have any information when I called them.

  2. I don’t have the answers. It may be a slog, but it may be a matter of going to school sites and searching for releases. If there are not releases, perhaps pose your question to individual athletic programs that currently offer men’s volleyball or to conference commissioner offices. D-III is up to 59 teams, according to NCAA.org. I’d pose your question to programs on this list.

There’s also a chance a reader of this site has some answers. Good luck.
