11/10: Hope, favorites advance

Man, did Hope look good tonight. The Flying Dutch swept Otterbein in the opening round of the Calvin Regional, and the remaining higher seeds advanced. If you didn’t know why the Calvin Regional (link has postmatch comments from both sides and full recaps) starts and ends a day early, Calvin does not play on Sundays. The NCAA honors requests of that nature if at all possible.

It was good to see how St. Norbert battled after the first set. Several of the St. Norbert and Calvin players are from the Chicago area and are very familiar with each other from club ball. Calvin was just too much at the net.

Heidelberg 3, Geneva 2. Set 5 ended 17-15. GC had two match points. HU outside Venessa Haase had 15 kills and 28 digs.
Wittenberg 3, Rose-Hulman 0. WU outside Kimmie Dyer had 13 kills.
Hope 3, Otterbein 0. HC outside Jenna Grasmeyer had 13 kills.
Calvin 3, St. Norbert 0. CC hit .302. CC setter Megan Rietema had 38 assists.

For your Friday viewing assistance, I’ll give the same links as yesterday.
