10/5: Simpson beats Cornell in 5 for first IIAC win

No. 24 UW-Platteville 3, UW-La Crosse 0. UWP setter Ali Sikic had 35 assists and eight digs. UWP is 3-1 in the WIAC. UWL is 1-3.
UW-Superior 3, UW-River Falls 0. UWS won the kills column 47-25. UWRF had four kills in Set 3. UWS setter Keely Deadrick had 42 assists, three blocks and three aces. UWS outside Kitty Tynen went 14-2-26 with 10 digs. Both now 1-2 in the WIAC.
Carleton 3, Macalester 0. Watched online. CC hit .260 and had 10 blocks. MC hit -.018. MC apparently played without top hitter Laura Avena. CC is 2-3 in the MIAC. MC is 0-5.
Simpson 3, Cornell 2. Watched online. Set 5 ended 15-10. SC outside Steph Keller went 24-9-66. CC outside Kathleen O’Connor went 24-6-60 with 18 digs. My first time seeing a traditionally strong SC this season. If that’s a winless IIAC team, then the IIAC is deep and strong like usual. CC looked better than its IIAC record. SC is 1-4 in the IIAC. CC is 1-3.
Martin Luther 3, Bethany Lutheran 1. Watched online. MLC setter Miranda Maasz had 42 assists and fed four Knights to 10+ kills. MLC is 3-2 in the UMAC. BLC is 2-3.
Westminster 3, Blackburn 0. WC is 3-4 in the SLIAC. BC is 0-5.
No. 16 Chicago 3, Concordia Chicago 0. Watched online. UC hit .291 with eight blocks and seven aces. UC is 19-2 overall. CUC fell to 7-11.
Dominican 3, Lake Forest 0. DU outhit LFC .202 to -.048. DU opposite Julie Schulenburg went 7-1-16 with five blocks. DU improved to 15-4. LFC is 7-10.
Upset watch
Hardin-Simmons 3, RV McMurry 1. ASC match. H-SU outsides Christine Sas and Madison Reyes combined to go 32-9-61 with 26 digs. H-SU (14-2, 8-0 ASC) has won 13 straight. MU (17-1, 8-1) lost for the first time this season. MU’s loss leaves Calvin, Washington and Springfield as the last three undefeated D-III teams.
