About Me

I am a 2008 University of Wisconsin Oshkosh journalism graduate.

This blog started as part of a journalism class project that included a Web site dedicated to the 2007 UW Oshkosh women’s volleyball team. The original site is now outdated, but it’s not a bad 12-week effort. The continuation of this blog after the original site’s cessation reflects my interest in volleyball and in sports writing.

UPDATE: Curse this journalism job market! I, Ricky Nelson (ricky.nelson08@gmail.com), would appreciate a paying sports journalism or SID job, if you have one to offer. In the meantime I’ll continue to update the blog and watch volleyball.

If you also like D-III baseball, I started formulating a blog similar to the volleyball site. I hope you’ll join me in the spring on the baseball blog.

  1. I meant to mention that the UW Platteville match with Emory is streaming live now. See http://www.emoryathletics.com for live video action.

  2. I feel your pain about the journalism job market. My son is a 2009 college graduate (Fordham U in NYC) and is looking for work in journalism, focusing more on politics and futurism. No luck so far.
