Big Test

No. 4 Emory awaits No. 7 Oshkosh tomorrow at the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational. That should be a good one. Emory received one of 24 first-place votes in the latest AVCA coaches poll. Oshkosh has won 18 straight matches and a D-III record 54 consecutive games.

Emory has three losses this season, but all to solid teams. Emory (16-3) has lost to the University of Mobile (17-2), Birmingham-Southern College (17-2) and Lee University (11-7).

Emory has four players averaging more than three kills per game, so digging and blocking figure to be keys for an Oshkosh victory.

The Titans will play Hope College in tomorrow’s second match. Oshkosh then plays Millikin University and host Illinois Wesleyan on Saturday to wrap up the invite.

Even though you won’t find it on the team schedule, there’s a chance the Titans will return to Illinois Wesleyan later this season. That school hosts the 2007 National Championships.
